Fridays are a full day of academic enrichment and fun electives. Fridays are flexible and laid back but filled from end to end with engaging activities. Students may begin arriving at 9:00 and may stay until 2:00.
Each of our Friday Field Trips provide an amazing opportunity for children to experience education beyond the classroom, explore the world around them, apply their learning in a real-world way, and for families to get to know one another.
Students also participate in age-appropriate, fun, engaging, and academic electives such as: STEM Challenge, Deconstruction Class, World Passport Class, and Fine Arts. They participate in clubs and making seasonal crafts, creating and playing strategic board games, practicing coding to create video games (with programs like Tynker, FlowLab, and Scratch), and joining in the action during our PE games, WiiFit, fitness, outings, and community service opportunities.
Students also participate in our social and emotional development course called Overcoming Obstacles. Overcoming Obstacles life skills curriculum focuses on developing three fundamental skills on which all other skills can be built: communication, decision making, and goal setting. Through lessons and activities, students will learn valuable skills and discover how those skills are relevant to their lives.

First Friday of the Month Field Trips. We always invite the whole family to attend these wonderful, community-building events. These field trips require parents to drive the students to the event and stay to chaperone. We are planning some awesome field trips to places like iFly Indoor Skydiving Wind Tunnel, Santa Ana Fire Museum, USS Midway, Lyon Air Museum, Angel’s Baseball Stadium, Gemology Institute of America, The Carlsbad Flower Fields, and California African American Museum to name a few. These will be scheduled depending on COVID restrictions and closures. These field trips are optional and may cost additional fees. The cost is usually $0-$35/person.
In-House Field Trips. These field trips offer a glimpse into the real world and provide additional context for the children’s learning. These events include professionals coming to the academy to share their expertise and experiences with the students. These range from traveling zoos to authors to performing artists. There is no charge for these field trips.
Virtual Field Trips. These field trips also offer a glimpse into the real world and provide additional context for the children’s learning. These include professionals sharing their expertise with the children virtually from their place of business. These are exciting events because children are allowed to see behind the scenes where a typical field trip group could not normally venture. These will include a local favorite donut shop owner, surfboard shaper, artists, scientists, etc. There is no charge for these field trips.
